Sorry for the dramatic title XD I was just thinking of this and I thought it'd be interesting to get a discussion going. I personally have a theory and I'm curious to see what people think of it.
Arashi is obviously the money maker of JE so it shouldn't be a surprise that they get so many singles and things to do, but with the recent news of Kanjani8 getting 3 new singles and being the hosts of 24hTV, and KAT-TUN releasing a new single so soon after their last one, I started thinking of the reason behind it.
To put it simply, I think Johnny is realizing that they're getting old XD And he wants to take full advantage of those groups. Arashi has an average group age of 28 years. Ohno is already 30, isn't he? Remember that information that came out a while ago saying Arashi wouldn't be featured in a lot of Idol magazines anymore because the age limit is 30? The same thing will happen to Kanjani this year, because both Yoko and Subaru are turning 30. Kanjani has an average group age of 27 years. That's almost as much as Arashi. The thing is, Arashi will always sell like crazy because they're already ~national Idols and whatnot, but Johnny can take a lot more out of Kanjani before that happens because they haven't reached a crazy, ~Arashian level of success. Not that they ever will, but Johnny probably wants to try as hard as he can with this limited amount of time. Same goes for KAT-TUN, their age average is 26. It's not as much as Arashi/Kanjani but it's still higher than NEWS.
I'm not saying Idols have expiration dates, I mean, look at SMAP. But the thing is, not all groups are gonna turn out to be like SMAP. That takes a lot. And I think there's a fan base that can only be reached when you're a certain age. The majority of JE fans are teen girls who read Popolo/Duet/Myojo, etc.
NEWS has an average group age of only 24 years. The oldest member, Koyama, is only 26. That means we have 4 more years before we even have to start worrying about "time limits" and stuff like that. I think that's why Johnny doesn't "use" them as much. It's like NEWS is a card he's saving during a game and he'll use it when he needs to. Like Shige so proudly said once, NEWS is like an "all star" group. The means the members can stand strong individually, and become even stronger as a group. Johnny can guarantee a decent amount of money with Pi's solo stuff and Tegomass while Ryo does work with Kanjani and while his older groups make the greater amount of money while they can.
I honestly think that NEWS will become the "it" group in a few years (along with HSJ), once the groups that are being overused right now can't reach the younger fan base anymore. Of course it's just ONE theory, maybe Johnny just hates us XD What do you guys think?

No estoy diciendo que los ídolos tienen fechas de vencimiento, es decir, visita SMAP. Pero la cosa es que no todos los grupos van a llegar a ser como SMAP. Para eso se necesita mucho. Y creo que hay una base de fans que sólo se puede alcanzar cuando se está de cierta edad. La mayoría de los aficionados JE son niñas adolescentes que leen Popolo / Dúo / Myojo, etc
NEWS tiene una edad promedio del grupo de sólo 24 años. El miembro de mayor edad, Koyama, sólo 26. Eso significa que tenemos 4 años más antes de que siquiera tiene que empezar a preocuparse por "los límites de tiempo " y cosas por el estilo. Creo que es por eso que Johnny no "uso" como mucho. Es como NEWS es una tarjeta que está ahorrando durante un juego y que lo va a usar cuando se necesita.
